Brothers Take the Helm of 5 Staffing Offices Across the Intermountain West, Building on Nearly Two Decades of Workforce Excellence & Community Impact

SALT LAKE CITY – Spherion Staffing and Recruiting (Spherion) announced today a leadership transition for its Utah offices. John and Tim Larsen are assuming ownership of five Spherion locations across the Intermountain West, including offices in Layton, Ogden, Orem, Salt Lake City and Taylorsville. They succeed Ron Zarbock, who dedicated 18 years to supporting the local workforce by connecting businesses with top talent and helping job seekers find meaningful employment opportunities. Ron remains a Spherion franchisee in Boise, Idaho, and will support John and Tim to ensure a smooth transition.

John and Tim bring complementary strengths and a shared vision to their new roles as Spherion business owners. John’s career includes entrepreneurial ventures focused on technology and HR solutions as well as executive leadership at Ford Motor Company. At Ford, he developed programs to optimize talent and align resources with the business’s needs. 

Tim’s extensive background in finance and operations includes more than 16 years working with manufacturing and light industrial companies, both of which are key sectors within Spherion’s portfolio. Together, the brothers saw the opportunity to combine their expertise, connect job seekers with impactful opportunities and help businesses navigate workforce challenges with effective staffing solutions.

Beyond business growth, John and Tim remain committed to giving back to their community. Since 2020, Spherion of Utah has partnered with Tifie Humanitarian to match community donations to local nonprofit partners. To date, this initiative has contributed more than $100,000 to 10 nonprofits across the state. Their commitment also extends beyond financial support. The Spherion team collaborates with these organizations year-round, providing hands-on assistance in various capacities. 

One standout partnership is with People Helping People (PHP), a nonprofit dedicated to workforce development and breaking the cycle of poverty for families. PHP focuses on reducing the number of children living in poverty by empowering mothers – primarily single moms – with the tools and resources they need to achieve financial independence through meaningful employment. For nearly a decade, Spherion has partnered with PHP, donating more than $40,000 and offering job search support, including resume assistance, interview coaching and mentorship. PHP has also been an excellent pipeline for talent, with many of its program participants securing employment through Spherion’s staffing network.

Spherion will continue to focus on both general and professional staffing, offering temporary, temp-to-hire and direct-hire services. The company will maintain a strong emphasis on light industrial roles while also expanding its presence in professional recruitment.
