Staffing Industry Veteran Assumes Ownership of Jacksonville Office; Expanding Services in Light Industrial and Administrative Temporary Staffing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Spherion Staffing and Recruiting (Spherion) announced today that its Jacksonville office, formerly owned by Marme Kopp, is now under the leadership of another accomplished Florida-based Spherion staffing expert David Miller. Miller assumed ownership of the office in late August.

“It meant the world to me that I was one of Marme’s first phone calls when she decided to retire,” said Miller. “The Jacksonville market is extremely viable. It offers significant growth opportunities not only for the businesses and job seekers we serve but also for Marme’s colleagues, who are joining our central and southwest Florida Spherion family as part of this transition. The energy within our team is plain to see, and we’re ready to get to work and make an immediate, sustainable impact on the local economy.”

Miller and his family have owned and operated Spherion offices across Florida in Fort Myers, Lakeland, Leesburg, Ocala, Naples and Sarasota for nearly 40 years. His knowledge of the staffing and recruiting industry is extensive, and he plans to expand services at the Jacksonville office to include temporary staffing for light industrial and administrative roles.

His previous experience makes him a perfect candidate for this task, as his offices have assisted major household companies in their recruitment efforts on-site for several years. With this change, Miller hopes to bring Spherion’s hyper-local approach to more businesses and job seekers in Jacksonville.

“It’s bittersweet, but I truly can’t think of a better person to be handing the reins over to than David,” said Kopp, who owned and operated Spherion Jacksonville for nearly 30 years. “When I first had the opportunity to move to Jacksonville and start this business, I fell in love with the city.

"The connections I’ve made with clients and associates over the years have been incredibly meaningful. I can’t wait to continue to be a part of the Jacksonville community while cheering for David and his team from the sidelines.”

Kopp got her start in the staffing and recruiting industry 30 years ago in Louisville, Kentucky. After overseeing sales for the Midwest at another staffing agency, she was offered the opportunity to purchase Spherion Jacksonville in 1996. As she retires, Kopp will work alongside the office and Miller to ensure a seamless transition of ownership.

Each Spherion office enriches its community by connecting and facilitating employment opportunities every day—and when successful, the office and its investments flow back into the neighborhoods it serves. The power of Spherion is in its local roots.
