Local Staffing and Recruiting Professional Aims to Add Another 50 Blessing Bags to the 550 Delivered to Adult Cancer Patients Since 2011

SAN ANGELO, Texas – As part of an annual effort to bring holiday cheer to adult cancer patients at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Spherion Staffing and Recruiting (Spherion) in San Angelo is collecting items for care packages at its office now through December 14.

The effort is led by Spherion San Angelo Vice President of Operations Veronica Madrigal as a way to pass on the love shown to her daughter Krystal, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2010, during the family’s extended stays in the hospital.

“Our daughter was diagnosed with leukemia on May 19, 2010, and we’ll never forget the outpouring of love that we received as she underwent chemotherapy at Methodist Hospital,” said Madrigal. “Although Krystal has been cancer-free for 14 years, it is still incredibly important to us to be a part of creating meaningful moments for other families who may be spending their holidays in the hospital like we were.”

For the thirteenth year, the Madrigals plan to donate 50 Blessing Bags to the 50 adult cancer patient rooms on the oncology floor of Methodist Hospital.

San Angelo residents who want to be part of this effort are encouraged to drop off games, clothes and hygiene products for the Blessing Bags at Spherion San Angelo between now and December 14. The office is located at 3467 Knickerbocker Road. For those unable to make it to the office, Madrigal and her family also offer a pick-up option upon request.

I am happy to share that she has now been cancer-free for 13 years! While spending the holidays in a hospital is not ideal, we hope that these small care packages can brighten someone's day as they navigate their recovery journey.”
