Kentucky Native Opens Staffing and Recruiting Office to Connect Local Businesses and Job Seekers in Northern Kentucky
LOUISVILLE, Ky.– Spherion Staffing and Recruiting (Spherion) announced today that it is expanding its presence in Kentucky with the opening of its newest office in Louisville. Under the ownership of Kentucky native Brock Wicker, the new location is officially open with a focus on filling temporary, temporary-to-hire and direct hire roles in sectors including manufacturing, clerical and light industrial.
“I’ve always been interested in business ownership, but wanted to ensure it was the right opportunity for me and for my family,” said Wicker, an Elizabethtown native. “The more I learned about Spherion and its mission to drive careers and grow businesses, the more I realized it was exactly what I had been looking for. Plus, being able to move back home to Kentucky and serve the community I grew up in is a dream come true.”
After graduating from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration, Wicker worked as a PGA Assistant Golf Professional at Meridian Country Club in Indianapolis for four years. Following his time there, he moved on to serve as a Class A PGA Head Golf Professional at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club (TLCC) in Leesburg, Indiana. It was during his time at TLCC that Wicker first heard about Spherion Staffing through Tom Pentenburg, one of Spherion’s most prominent franchisees with locations throughout the Indianapolis region.
Pentenburg introduced Wicker to the idea of franchise ownership with Spherion. After learning about the open market in Louisville, Wicker felt it was worth starting the ownership process with Pentenburg as his partner in the venture. With the help of his wife and the support of Pentenburg and the Spherion corporate team, Wicker is looking forward to building this new culture in Louisville, and helping community members grow in their careers.
“We’re excited to welcome Brock to the Spherion community and are incredibly grateful to Tom for helping make this partnership a possibility,” said Rebecca Rogers Tijerino, president of Spherion Staffing. “We’re positive that Brock is going to be a great fit for Spherion, and will do a lot of great work for the Louisville community.”
Spherion brandishes the power of local through a network of independent and empowered franchisees like Wicker. Each Spherion franchisee enriches their community through connecting and facilitating employment opportunities every day—and when they’re successful together, their investments flow back into the neighborhoods where they live and work. The power of Spherion is in its local roots.
