Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
1)-Designing and detailing seismic isolation systems and damping systems for structures. This work will involve:
Designing seismic isolation bearings for buildings and bridges. The design incudes different bearing types including Lead Rubber Bearings (LRB's), Rubber Bearings (RB's), Flat Sliders, Seismic Ball Bearings, and others to seismically isolate structures from the ground. Typical design includes the determination of the appropriate type, number, shape, and size of the isolation system.
Designing isolation systems in accordance with various applicable regulatory codes and provisions including ASCE7-10, ASCE7-16, ASCE41-13, AASHTO, and European Standards.
2)-Performing structural modeling and analysis using technologies including Structural Software for Analysis and Design (SAP2000) and Structural Software for Building Analysis and Design (ETABS).
Modeling includes response spectrum analysis and nonlinear history analysis.
Modeling the nonlinear properties of the isolation bearings.
Selection and matching of the ground motions used in the analyses.-----
3-a) Responsible for product development of dampers, pendulum, sliding bearings and equipment isolation systems.
-------
3-b) Performing research and development for new products that provide seismic protection for structures and equipment and evaluating product test data. ---
Research and assess technical feasibility of new products including curved sliders (friction pendulums).
Research improvements that can be implemented on existing products such as viscous wall dampers.
Develop and design isolation systems for critical structures and equipment such as power transformers and pharmaceutical fridges.
Test new products and evaluation of the test results.
Education:
Masters
Experience:
7-10 years
Qualifications:
4) Providing technical and sales support for Viscous Wall Dampers and Viscous Dampers.
Advise and educate clients with their structural models.
Provide guidance on how to implement dampers and isolators in the computer models and processing the results.
5) Preparing design submittals and test reports associated with a project.
Prepare design reports which typically include the design of the isolation system, drawings, test matrices, and all the associated technical specifications.
Prepare test reports which include test results of the manufactured isolation bearings.
6) Preparing technical and commercial proposals.
Prepare technical proposals to be presented to prospective clients. These reports typically include design, properties, and pricing of different isolation systems to be used in bids.
7) Responding to sales inquiries from prospective engineers and contractors and providing design support and budget pricing as necessary.
8) Providing technical support for sales inquiries, site support to contractors, and production engineering support.
