- Prepare surfaces for painting by operating sandblasting equipment to remove rust, paint, dirt, and other contaminants.- Suit up in protective gear (including full-body suit, respirator, and goggles) to safely operate the sandblasting equipment.- Choose and apply appropriate blasting medium (e.g., sand, glass beads, or other abrasives) based on surface type and job specifications.- Ensure all surfaces are clean and properly prepped for painting or coating applications.- Maintain and inspect sandblasting equipment for functionality and safety, making adjustments or repairs as needed.- Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations to protect yourself and others in the workspace.- Monitor progress to ensure all surfaces meet required quality standards.- Assist with other surface preparation tasks as needed, including cleaning and masking areas not to be blasted.- Work closely with the painting team to coordinate smooth workflow and timely completion of projects.
1-4 years
- At least 1 year previous experience in sandblasting or powder coating- Ability to wear and work in protective gear for extended periods.- Knowledge of different abrasive media and how to use them effectively on various surfaces.- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing, bending, and lifting.- Understanding of and commitment to following safety protocols.- Basic mechanical skills to troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
