The Purchasing & Inventory Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and communicating activities from the Purchasing Department to all other departments. Procures goods and services to meet facility needs. Adheres to the ethical standard of purchasing. Complies with company purchasing policy and ensures that the company gets the best product, service, and price. Maintains professional rapport with vendors. Coordinates control of inventory - cycle counting and physical inventory. Develops purchasing strategies which include sourcing material and evaluating new suppliers. Maintains positive relationships with suppliers to receive competitive pricing and quality products and stay within department budgets. Drives reduction in purchase price variance.

Responsibilities:
- Selects vendors, assesses vendor capabilities, develops alternate sources, evaluates vendor performance, and negotiates price and delivery of goods and services.
- Manages daily purchasing activities, leading staff, and allocating tasks.
- Monitors and forecasts upcoming levels of demand. Establishing MIN/MAX and safety stock levels.
- Assists the strategic sourcing process to drive cost out of the supply chain by Assisting the following: Commodity and negotiation strategies including terms and conditions supplier selection/de-selection, evaluation, and rationalization of supply chain solutions.
- Works to improve purchasing systems and processes.
- Making sure that department records are accurate, and purchases are followed-up or expedited when required. Department records include price histories used to provide information on price variances.
- Analyzes facility purchasing needs and identifies effective and efficient solutions.
- Determines appropriate inventory levels and budgets often utilizing computerized tracking systems in conjunction with finance.
- Undertakes specifically assigned projects relating to procurement and provides summaries, reports, and recommendations on these subjects.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in the purchasing department required (same industry preferred)
- Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and purchasing ERP software.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures. Good mathematical skills.
- Solid judgement along with decision making skills.
- Understanding of the market conditions and trends.
- Exceptional interpersonal and social skills to build a good rapport.
- Positive and professional demeanor.
- Must be physically capable of lifting 50 lbs.
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hand, and arm length, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Full hand dexterity
- Must be able to stand on your feet for long periods of time.
