Our client in Louisville, KY, is seeking a skilled and motivated Press Operator to join our production team. The Press Operator will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of printing presses to produce high-quality printed materials according to job specifications and quality standards. Responsibilities:
- Set up printing presses, including mounting plates (for flexographic presses), loading inks, adjusting tensions, and ensuring proper registration and alignment.
- Operate printing presses efficiently and safely, monitoring print quality, making necessary adjustments, and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Read and interpret job tickets, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate production.
- Perform routine maintenance on presses, including cleaning, lubricating, and making minor repairs.
- Monitor ink levels, viscosity, and pH, making adjustments as needed to maintain print quality.
- Inspect printed materials for defects such as misregistration, color variations, smearing, and other quality issues.
- Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Accurately complete production reports, including material usage, downtime, and quality checks.
- Collaborate with other team members, including supervisors, quality control personnel, and maintenance staff, to ensure efficient production and resolve any issues.
- Assist with training new press operators as needed.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Working hours: 2:45 PM - 11:15 PM
Skills:
- Experience with specific types of flexographic presses (e.g., wide web, narrow web, inline).
- Familiarity with specific ink systems and color management relevant to flexographic printing.
- Experience with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift and move materials as needed.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and practices in a manufacturing environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
