We are seeking a highly proficient and detail-oriented Bookkeeper with an excellent understanding of accounting principles, preferably within the construction industry, to manage our day-to-day financial operations. This is an in-person position based in our Midland, MI office and requires a candidate who can quickly become proficient in our processes. ***The successful candidate will be expected to work part-time (2-3 days per week) once fully trained, with the potential for a full-time schedule during the initial training period and ongoing long-term.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately enter and code vendor invoices in QuickBooks Online.
- Process and schedule payments to vendors in a timely manner.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date vendor files.
- Reconcile vendor statements to ensure accuracy.
- Accurately track and allocate costs to specific job projects within QuickBooks Online.
- Assist in generating job cost reports as needed.
- Generate and review various financial statements in QuickBooks Online.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Prepare, track, and manage conditional and unconditional lien waivers.
- Ensure compliance with relevant lien laws and regulations.
- Maintain and ensure the integrity of all financial data within QuickBooks Online.
- Utilize QuickBooks Online efficiently for all bookkeeping tasks.
- Prepare professional letters and other written correspondence using Microsoft Word.
- Create and manage spreadsheets for various financial tracking and analysis using Microsoft Excel.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, subcontractors, and internal team members regarding financial matters.
- Assist with other administrative and accounting tasks as needed.
Skills:

- Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with processing and managing lien waivers.
Qualifications:
- Proven proficiency in bookkeeping and accounting principles (demonstrated through experience).
- Significant experience working with QuickBooks Online is essential.
- Preference for candidates with prior bookkeeping experience within the construction industry.
- Solid understanding of job costing principles and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word (for letter writing) and Microsoft Excel (for spreadsheets and data analysis).
- Must be able to work in-person at our Midland, MI office (this is NOT a remote position).
