Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit accurate claims to insurance companies for payment.
Ensure claims are compliant with regulations and standards, including HIPAA.
Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility before services are provided.
Obtain pre-authorizations as necessary.
Record payments received from insurance companies and patients.
Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Review and address claim denials or rejections.
Work with insurance providers to resolve issues and resubmit claims.
Generate and send patient statements for outstanding balances.
Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing or insurance coverage.
Maintain accurate records of billing activity.
Prepare regular reports on billing metrics, collections, and outstanding accounts.
Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation or coding issues.
Work with the coding team to ensure accurate assignment of codes.
Stay updated on billing regulations and insurance policies.
Ensure adherence to legal and ethical standards in all billing activities.
Working hours: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
Certified Professional Biller (CPB)
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Knowledge of ophthalmology-specific billing codes
Education:
High School
Experience:
1-4 years
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Three (3) plus years of proven experience as a medical biller
Proficiency with medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
