- Study blueprints, sketches, drawings, or sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders to fabricate parts.- Verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.- Calculate and set machining parameters (speed, feed, coolant flow, depth, angle of cut) and input machine control data as needed.- Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and make adjustments as necessary.- Verify and document critical dimensions and alignment of thermoform tool and components using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other measuring instruments.- Must maintain regular and consistent attendance.- Perform additional duties as assigned.
4-7 years
- Experience with CNC programming and operation- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments beyond basic tools- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- High school diploma or GED.- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a machine shop setting.- Proficiency in setting up and operating all shop machine tools.- Skilled in inspection equipment, measurement methods, and tool repair procedures.- Strong communication skills with the ability to follow instructions and SOPs.- Logical reasoning and problem-solving abilities.- Proficiency in shop math, including geometry and trigonometry.- Understanding of thermoformed (sheet) plastic processes.
