Key Responsibilities:
Mechanical Duties:
- Conduct routine inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on equipment (cranes, excavators, loaders, trucks).
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
- Keep detailed records of inspections, repairs, and parts used.
- Collaborate with management to schedule major repairs and replacements.
Material Handling Duties:
- Safely operate heavy equipment to load, unload, and transport scrap materials within the yard.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing loads to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Assist with sorting and processing ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
- Follow company protocols for material staging, processing, and storage.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of experience operating heavy equipment and/or performing mechanical repairs.
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic and diesel systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Valid driver's license required.
- CDL License in a plus.
- Forklift and/or heavy equipment certification preferred.
