Responsibilities:
Inmate Supervision: Maintain direct supervision of inmates in housing units, recreation areas, and other facility locations. Conduct regular security checks and inspections to ensure the safety and security of inmates, staff, and visitors.
Security Procedures: Enforce facility rules, regulations, and procedures to prevent escapes, disturbances, and unauthorized activities. Monitor inmate behavior, intervene in conflicts or emergencies, and de-escalate tense situations using appropriate techniques.
Intake and Release: Process new admissions and releases according to established procedures. Conduct intake screenings, inventory personal belongings, and complete necessary documentation. Escort inmates to and from court appearances, medical appointments, and other external facilities as required.
Crisis Management: Respond to emergencies, including medical emergencies, fights, fires, and natural disasters. Administer first aid and CPR as needed, coordinate emergency responses with other staff members, and assist in evacuations and lockdowns as necessary.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inmate activities, incidents, and disciplinary actions. Complete incident reports, log entries, and other documentation in a timely and thorough manner. Testify in court as needed regarding incidents or observations.
Specialized Assignments: Perform specialized duties as assigned, such as inmate classification, transport, or special operations. Participate in training exercises, drills, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other detention deputies, law enforcement officers, correctional staff, and support personnel to achieve departmental goals and objectives. Communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and external stakeholders to coordinate activities and share information.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM (Various Shifts Available)

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's or bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
Minimum of 1 years of experience in law enforcement, corrections, or related field if certified.
Heavy interest in corrections or law enforcement if not certified.
Steady employment history, willingness to obtain state certification, and dedication for a career.
Certification as a law enforcement officer or correctional officer in any state preferred.
Physical fitness and agility to perform job duties, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
