Responsibilities:
- Manage the indirect lending channel which includes the underwriting, funding, and cross-selling of our indirect loans.
- Manage underwriting team to ensure proper coverage, proper branch/dealer service, proper profitability, and delinquency ratios.
- Manage funding team to ensure excellent service and proper coverage for our indirect and dealer support and ensure qualified referral and cross-sell thresholds are exceeded.
- Provide excellent service to our members through cross-selling.
- Interview and pre-screen potential new dealer partners for the indirect lending channel. Verify due diligence and business details and prepare recommendations for policy review.
- Assist with approval processing and funding of employee loans, maintaining confidentiality of the information collected.
- Work directly with dealers to maximize our indirect volume and profitability Regularly conduct visits with prepared data for relationship and portfolio reviews.
- Provide information to partners concerning credit services or policies, including eligibility for membership, etc
- Take lead in training new employees in the department ? Underwriters, Lending Operations, and Dealer Partners.
- Achieve goals for loan volume, assist with cross selling (Gap/Warranty/Credit Cards/Payment Protection) and delinquency and compliance reviews.
- Reviews of all underwriters and processors.
- Work with business development to generate, maintain, and track dealer relations for loan business.
- Oversee underwriting standards and loan policy commensurate with risk in our lending environment. Monitor results of loan operations and recommend changes. Analyze loan data to identify trends for driving loan sales volume.
- Assess risk and establish safeguards to minimize loss exposure.
- Responsible for all Loan Operating Systems maintenance and upgrades.
- Using the Credit Union ?Service Standards? as a foundation, demonstrates ongoing commitment to exceptional service to members, potential members, and other Credit Union staff.
- Project a positive, professional image in all interactions with internal and external members.
- Conduct business with the highest standards of personal, professional, and ethical conduct.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience
- 5 years of lending and underwriting experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in banking, lending, or financial services, which must include a minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
- Experience building a profitable loan portfolio.
- Proven sales leadership skills: ability to evaluate individual strengths and weaknesses and utilize coaching and counseling skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc)
- Consumer Loan experience (not Mortgage Loan experience)
- Expert knowledge of banking and/or credit union regulations.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply loan policies and objectives to banking activities.
- Able to work in fast paced environment managing a wide variety of tasks.
- Professional and effective communication skills, including listening, writing and presentation.
- Able to work independently utilizing analytical and decision-making skills.
- Organizational skills and effective time management.
- Experience collaborating with external auditors and federal regulators.
- Negotiating experience and recommending financial products.
- Navigate situations involving credit risk beyond the parameters of company guidelines.
