Spherion Staffing & Recruiting is hiring a Business Development Representative to join our growing team. In this role, you will focus on lead generation, outbound prospecting, and pipeline development to drive new business opportunities for our Madison, WI & Rockford, IL offices.

Responsibilities

- Research and select prospective clients for our services, targeting key decision-makers
- Conduct proactive outreach through cold calling, email, LinkedIn, and in-person drop-ins
- Qualify leads by gaining insight into their hiring pain points and workforce goals
- Document outreach efforts and interactions in our CRM
- Nurture early-stage prospects, keeping leads engaged until they are ready for a formal discussion
- Proactively follow up with prospects to build rapport and keep Spherion top-of-mind
- Work with our staffing experts to move prospects through the sales sequence, ensuring smooth transitions, scheduling meetings, and providing key insights to maximize the prospect’s experience
- Collaborate with the team to continuously refine and optimize outreach strategies and messaging for improved effectiveness
- Identify and attend networking events to build brand awareness, connect with potential clients, and represent Spherion in the communities we serve
- Uphold organizational values in all communication and activity
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage prospects with a consultative approach
- Comfortable with outbound prospecting, strategic outreach, and handling objections
- Highly organized with excellent time management and follow-through skills
- A self-starter who can work independently while collaborating with a team to achieve business goals
- Experience using CRM tools and sales technologies is a plus, but not required
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Previous experience in sales, lead generation, or a related role preferred
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
Compensation
The Business Development Representative compensation package will include a $45,000 base salary with additional earning potential through a performance-based incentive plan. Incentive earnings are tied to key performance metrics, including meetings set, signed contracts, and a percentage of gross profit (GP). This structure provides a strong foundation while rewarding proactive client engagement and business development efforts. Additional details will be shared during the interview process
