We are looking for an experienced NPI Machinist to join the team at our client in Raleigh, NC. The NPI Machinist will be responsible for setting up computerized numerically controlled machine tools and related equipment for machining operations for new product development. Some of the essential functions of the NPI Machinist will be to participate in problem solving activities and contribute to quality improvements. The NPI Machinist will also be required to operate machines when necessary and train other department employees and provides performance assessment feedback to supervisor. As a member of this client's team it is crucial to actively promote a teamwork-driven atmosphere and support overall team development.
Responsibilities:
- Works from drawings, 3D CAD models, and programs developed by CNC Programmers
- Set up and inspect first article parts.
- Use basic measurement tools to measure parts to customer drawings and 3D CAD model.
- Learn and utilized advanced inspection systems such as Keyence vision system.
- Solve technical machining problems to yield conforming products.
- Work with CNC Programmers to develop sustainable machining programs.
- Work with QC inspectors to troubleshoot nonconforming conditions.
- Establish effective setup procedures, generate work instructions for future production runs.
- Change cutting tools and location of work pieces during machining process.
- Installs cutting tools and various work holding devices to handle the size of stock to be machined.
- Makes necessary adjustments to set-ups during course of operations to maintain accurate production.
- Detects and reports improper operation, faulty equipment, and unusual conditions.
- Run multiple CNC machines.
- Utilize manual machines to manufacture parts to drawing and CAD model.
- Ensures quality of parts before forwarding them to next operation/process.
- Responsible for cleanliness of his/her own work area and the general housekeeping of the Company.
- Reports any unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Management/Maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Working hours: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Skills:
- Prototyping and first piece development with programs experience a plus.
- Familiarity with HAAS controls a plus.
- Troubleshooting
- Problem solving skills
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds
Education:
High School
Experience:
4-7 years
Qualifications:
- 3 or more years CNC setup experience.
- 5 or more years experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Mandatory 4th axis machining experience.
- Ability to use micrometers, calipers, height gauges and dial indicators.
- Ability to read and interpret GD&T blueprints a must.
