We are looking for an Apprenticeship Program Director to spearhead the expansion and enhancement of our apprenticeship program. This leadership role is crucial for aligning our offerings with the workforce needs of the future, focusing on trades education and training. Responsibilities of the Apprenticeship Program Director:
Strategic Program Leadership: Develop plans to sustain and expand apprenticeship programs, focusing on enhancing advanced carpentry skills, aligning them with the organization's goals, and adapting to job market trends in the construction and carpentry sectors.
Curriculum Development and NCCER Compliance: Keep apprenticeship curriculum current, relevant, and NCCER-compliant. Use NCCER resources to improve programs and align with national standards.
Partner Engagement: Establish and uphold solid partnerships with industry, education, government, and community groups to bolster program objectives and improve training opportunities.
Program Management and Operations: Direct operations of apprenticeship program, including budgeting, staff oversight, and resource distribution, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness for apprentices and the company.
Instructor Development and Support: Recruit, train, and support a team of skilled instructors and support staff, ensuring they are equipped to deliver high-quality, NCCER-aligned education and training.
Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure programs comply with regulations, standards, and funding needs. Apply ongoing quality improvements to boost outcomes.
Apprentice Support and Success: Create support systems to boost apprentice recruitment, retention, and success, offering advising, counseling, and job placement. Mentorship extends beyond the classroom to practical, on-site job training.
Community and Industry Relations: Represent the program to external partners, promoting apprenticeship benefits and fostering supportive partnerships.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Significant experience in workforce development, apprenticeship program management, or vocational education, with demonstrated success in program development and management.
- Candidates must have strong background in carpentry (e.g. framing, cabinetry, finish carpentry) Must be familiar with the NCCER training program, including its certification process, curriculum standards, and instructional resources.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with a diverse range of people.
- Proven ability to build partnerships with industry, educational institutions, and community organizations.
- Knowledge of workforce development trends, labor market needs, and educational best practices.
- Capability to identify and secure grants for the program.
This position typically operates in a classroom setting but will require visits and hands-on training on job sites up to one hour away. Must maintain a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
